weapon of choice

Despite it being obvious to a fairly large number of people, it seems to have taken me several years to get around to purchasing a point-and-shoot camera. after attending a certain concert last night (where people were taking pictures non-stop, using plenty of flash), I finally felt like I had passed the tipping point.

new toy: Canon SD630

I'm rather liking it so far - I had been researching point-and-shoots steadily for some time and the SD630 had always looked about like what I wanted, on paper. After randomly wandering in to a large vendor-showcase at Camera&Darkroom (and getting to handle one, as well as all of the competition), I was pretty much convinced.

New gallery posted at photooverflow - two points to whoever (except Jason) can tell me from whence this came:

Edit: The gallery has been updated to include new content from some friends' aborted attempt this evening to purchase a Wii (or 3, as the case may be). What started as 5 hours of boredom (for them - I got there late), went to 3 minutes of excitement, followed by 15 minutes of threats to call the cops. Then, a night of sorrow...

Looks fun. I just got my hands the Pentax K100D (I'm too much a creature of habit to move far from my beloved old film cameras). We should compare over Christmas.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that was a burger from Happy's. But I know better.

Glad you finally got your hands on a civilian camera. Don't break that thing, though.. Canon Factory Service is a pain to deal with.

if it _had_ been from Carlsbad, you can be sure it would have been from Church St. Grill.

0 for 1

we have a (anonymous) winner!

I was actually thinking of making a habit out of this - posting some sort of random contest semi-regularly. it'll be highly subjective. was thinking of something like adding a permanent link to the site (page?) of your choice. or something. for now, pick your prize.

Sorry James, I really wanted to meet up with you guys and hear about the concert, but I was waiting for Nidas friends to show up so that she wouldnt be alone.

Next time you are in Alb give me a call and we should get together.
